      ( 6:51 PM ) Jayme
i'm at work. on a monday night. unhappy. wanted to go to knitting group tonight. i have fluffy pressies for people, providing they're there and i'm there around the same time. ah, well. i guess they're mine to pet for a few more days. i get out of here at 20:00. prolly wouldn't make it there in time.

i did end up going to alpacafest west (too lazy to find link, see previous post). chris actually took me. (very very sweet boyfriend) small, but very cute little festival with very cute alpacas. borrowed roomie's camera so eventually there will be pictures. (honestly, i've been promising pictures for like 2 weeks, so one of these days there will be a ginormous, photo-filled, computer-slowing entry.) there are also little videos of the different events. my personal favorite: the costume class. kids and alpacas dressed up. the kids wrote stories about their costumes. great fun. it was their second year, so i wasn't expecting too much. made friends with a guy from oregon, who sold me needle felting kits. (i just made a freeformed flower; didn't follow the template at all.) talked to a weaver; her two grandkids took first and second place in the aforementioned costume class. bought stuff from village spinning and weaving's booth (more alpaca yarn in a camel-ish color and 8 oz of undyed tussah silk to spin up). went to see john and marsha's friends at suri-al (read: surreal) pacas, bought very squishy (mill spun) alpaca/angora blend yarn (only 2.5 oz, it was all they had left in the green i wanted). then chris decided i needed more silk, so i also have a couple oz each of burgundy and lavender silk to spin. somewhere in there i decided to bring some alpacas home (heh, heh -- for people that couldn't make it!) so i bought gifties instead. most of the vendors focused on finished products made with alpaca, so i didn't spend too much. i saw infamous bloggers jen and la (of jenla, see sidebar), but (as usual) was too shy to say anything. i think i saw a lecturer from UCSB, but again, didn't want to say anything. if it was her, i took her tropical ecology class a few years back and thought it was wonderful. (i am very shy. it took me a long time to feel remotely comfortable at knitting group, and i feel very awkward meeting people whose blogs i read regularly -- see entry a while back about my trip to SLO with thuy, where i met mariko of super eggplant fame.)

but that was sunday. saturday, i went downtown with my roommate nicole (who dressed as a pimp) and her work buddies. me, running late, traded my yoga pants for an old pair of fishnets and black miniskirt (from my academic league days -- really) and some knee high boots. heavy makeup and big hair. (all in 10-15 mins) and we went. lots of costumes. one bar fight. sorta long night. got home, watched the cable box flip out during the time change. went to bed after ducktales.

last thursday and friday were some of the worst days at work ever. v. hectic. i've figured out certain things that try my patience more than others (and trust me, i can have lots of patience). trip to borders to cheer me up. tried to buy aladdin and mulan on dvd. chris stopped me. ended up getting my anniversary present early. can't very well buy myself movies that he's already bought for me. he gave me aladdin, mulan, saved!, a gift certificate to vs -- all in a canvas bag i'd been admiring at the post office (it has a puppy on it & a reminder to spay and neuter pets). definitely more that i was expecting. so i gave him his present early -- ace combat 5 for ps2.

5 midterms down, 1 to go. 1 paper down, 3 to go. 3 finals. 4 weeks (give or take). 20+ hrs of work a week + 16 units = one busy girl.

i feel like i'm rambling. it's 19:30, so i have half an hour to go. i hope everyone's having fun at knitting group.

I do my thing and you do your thing
I am not in this world to
live up to your expectations,
and you are not in this world to
live up to mine.
You are you
and I am I
and if by chance we find each other,
it's beautiful.
