      ( 4:31 PM ) Jayme
no, i haven't fallen off the face of the earth.

but i haven't done much knitting or spinning lately, though i really really wanted to... i just keep hurting my hands. spent most of july on vacation, helping with other people's weddings and other stuff. was working on a sock and a scarf when one of my size 2 metal dpns went into my left hand. (i make the distinction because i've stepped on a size 3 bamboo dpn when i was knitting a different pair of socks. it broke the skin on my foot and then snapped so it wasn't that deep or painful.) that made my hand sore for the rest of july. then i got back to sb, and got sick. soup helps, but spilling boiling hot water on your hand doesn't. my hand has an angry red streak across the back of it. the fire extinguisher inspector who happened to stop by work on friday said it's probably a second degree burn, so my left hand is healing again.

i want to go to java station tonight, but i've got madame bovary to go through, plus an explorer to pick and an opera to finish listening to, not to mention the essay due thursday. i do want to go sometime and show off the yarn i spun right before i left for home and non-santa barbara areas. once everyone's seen it, i can mail it off, very belatedly, to its intended recipient. and i just remembered that the mondays and wednesdays that i could see the knitting group would mean going straight to sleep afterwards so i can wake up and open the office the next morning. oh! need to remember to email moira and erin about the even more local group they were trying to form. and vanessa, i think was trying to do a campus one? hmm...

and it looks like there's going to be another two rounds of secret knitting pal. i missed the sign ups for the second one, but the third round sign ups have just started. it's something to think about. the exchange period is sept 4 to my birthday, which is kind of neat.

back to work! half an hour til closing!

I do my thing and you do your thing
I am not in this world to
live up to your expectations,
and you are not in this world to
live up to mine.
You are you
and I am I
and if by chance we find each other,
it's beautiful.
